
After 18 months of preparation, Singapore’s youth athletes showcased their talent and resilience at the WFDF 2025 World Under-24 Ultimate Championships (WU24) in Logroño, Spain. For the second consecutive cycle, Singapore fielded teams in all three divisions: Mixed, Women’s, and Open. This marked another milestone in the nation’s international campaign.
Mixed Division: A Fourth-Place Finish After Spirited Battles
The Singapore Mixed Team, defending their historic silver medal from 2023, began the tournament strongly with commanding performances in pool play:
Singapore 15–4 Hong Kong
Singapore 15–9 Great Britain
Singapore 15–4 Colombia

Momentum carried into the power pools, where Singapore beat Germany 14–12 and overcame Australia 11–6, advancing into the quarterfinals. A hard-fought 12–10 victory against the Czech Republic secured their place in the top four.
In the semifinals, Singapore faced a clinical Canadian side, falling 15–10, before taking on France in the bronze medal match. In a contest that went to time cap, Singapore fought to the last point but lost 15–9, finishing 4th overall.
Women’s Division: Rising Higher Into the Top 10
The Singapore Women’s Team faced some of the toughest opponents in their group. Narrow losses to eventual 7th-place Italy 15–9 and 3rd-place Great Britain 15–12 kept them just outside the Top 8.

Undeterred, the team dominated the 9–13 placement pool with emphatic wins:
Singapore 15–6 Germany
Singapore 15–3 Spain
Singapore 15–1 Philippines
Singapore 15–9 New Zealand
This strong showing secured a 9th place finish, a significant achievement for the squad.

Open Division: Fighting Through Adversity
The Singapore Open Team opened their campaign against a formidable Belgian side, eventual silver medallists, falling 15–7 in a spirited match. Despite the tough start, the team battled through the 9th–16th bracket with determination.

A narrow quarterfinal against Switzerland ended 15–11, but Singapore bounced back with an emphatic 15–6 victory over Spain in the semifinals. The campaign closed with a competitive match against Ireland, falling and finishing 14th overall.

Singapore’s performance at WU24 2025 reflects both the depth of talent and the resilience of its young athletes. The teams’ ability to compete closely with international powerhouses highlights the progress made through the long training runway and points to the potential ceiling of the next generation.
